How Do You Remove Asbestos Siding Without Breaking It

Before the siding dries start removing nails by pulling them out or cutting the heads.

How do you remove asbestos siding without breaking it. Try to keep the siding in full pieces if possible. Spray the back of each piece once it s removed and carefully place it on the plastic sheet. Use the pry bar to get up under the edge of the siding and take it off of the side of the house. If the siding starts to crumble on its own spray it with your detergent mixture.

Breakage releases asbestos fibers. This will help prevent breaking the siding and releasing asbestos dust. Wrap asbestos siding in 6 mil thick plastic sheeting and secure the plastic with duct tape or place the debris in heavy duty plastic bags. Lower removed siding to the ground.

Keep the asbestos material that has been removed wet. Work from the top down removing the snails to keep from breaking the asbestos siding. Use a flat pry bar to remove the asbestos siding or roofing material starting from the top. Use the hammer to remove any nails that are holding the siding in place.

Use the pry bar and the hammer to start taking off the siding. This will help decrease the number of asbestos particles in the air as you remove the siding. Do not throw or drop removed asbestos siding. If siding should begin to crack or crumble immediately wet the cracked or broken areas with the pint size spray bottle or garden pump sprayer.

Wet the back of each piece of siding as it is removed.
