How do you lay rolled roofing. To seal a plumbing vent spread roofing cement around the pipe. Attach the strip to the roof every 3 inches with nails pulling it tight as you go. You need to place starter strips of roll roofing along all edges of the roof so start by cutting pieces of roofing about 18 inches wide. Cut a hole in a piece of roofing about 2 feet wide and slip it over the pipe.
